|2.03.2016 :: EXCELth Hosts Job Corps students at National Groundhog Job Shadow Day |
For the third year, the EXCELth Family Health Center-New Orleans East hosted students from the New Orleans Job Corps Center for National Groundhog Job Shadow Day experience. The event provided an opportunity for students from the Clinical Certified Medical Assistant and the Medical Administrative Assistant training programs to learn more about the careers for which they are being trained at Job Corps.
During the event, Mrs. Irene Coco, health center manager, gave them an overview of the health center and took them on tour to observe how a primary care health center operates. They heard presentations from: Dr. Chioma Ogbuefi, clinical director; Dr. Lolita Gonzales, pedestrian; Mrs. Barbara Dehon Manuel, LCSW, social services coordinator; Mr. Traig Varnado, LCSW; behavioral health counselor; Mrs. Jacqulin Spooner, Outreach/Enrollment Worker; and Marjorie Brooks, LPN, Quality Improvement Field Nurse. Mary Crooks, special projects coordinator, discussed the history of EXCELth, Incorporated and shared tips for job seeking.
